YOUTH EMPOWERMENT PROGRAM

YEP is the only free, year-round, youth-based program in the BVI. We have been providing after school and out-of-school time programs for children ages 8-15 for over 12 years. As a Non-Profit Organization, we depend upon community support to keep our doors open. Over the past decade, we have served over 3,500 children with the hopes of expanding our centres/clubs across the British Virgin Islands.

With a consistent average monthly enrollment of 83 children year around, over 140 during the summer months, we have remained the preferred youth program in our country. In 2018, we were able to expand our staff to 4 full time and 2 part time staff members, which has positively impacted the delivery of our programs. This year also was our best year to date in financial contributions. 

Community partnerships grew in 2018, to allow for investments in resources which were damaged by Hurricane Irma in 2017. One such additional resource was the donation of a bus to assist with transportation needs of the centre/club. These partnerships also allowed for collaborations in our programming to broaden our offerings. Our teen based program was launched in November with 16 teens meeting twice weekly. A site visit form Glenn Permuy and Jose Cruz of BGCA late in 2018 also offered a wonderful opportunity for organizational reflection for the Board of Directors.
